looking at doing a motor change in a xe ute from the 4.1l carby to the 4.0l efi is there any things that could make the swap very interesting,
anything that might need to be modded, will it need to have the inspection after. all help is appreacated. i know that the gear box will have to be changed and the radiator and that sort of stuff. i have read the tech doc written by troyman on the motor swap from au to ea eb. thanks

I just did all the wiring on an EF 5.0 and BTR 4sp into an XE ute, it was a fairly straight forward swap mechanically, electrically it took about 20 hours.

sorry but i have told misleading information its the stock alternator that hits, it hits on the support rail thing that goes on a angle from the chassis rail to under the rad support panel, the reason for cutting the bottom of the rad support panel was because he ran a eb clutch fan because he was to tight to buy thermo's.

I've dropped an EL motor in my XF ute. Not going yet. I used an EL radiator with the twin therofans, (a bit of cutting involved but not much)original XF engine mounts, EL alternator, and power steering pump. The alternator isn't hitting the support member but is pretty close, a few hard revs and it will hit. You can use the original XF auto as long as you get the 3 spd EA bellhousing. Also if you use the motor and ecu that has smartlock it can be a bit of a pain wiring it all in. I didn't have to worry about that as I am going straight gas, turbo. I'm also using an EA-ED intake manifold which just misses the strut tower by a couple of mills.
