they have a shorter first gear ratio, which means the get up quicker

ford have a long first ratio, but once u hit 2nd and bout 80kms the falcon is in a field of it own

the auto is what lets the falcon down. Just get a 5 speed, and be done with it :)

personally i think the build quality of the falcons is way ahead of the VN/VP/VR's... have a look how many of them u see with totally FUBAR paintwork, and ive never seen an VN/VP recently without varying degress of faded tail lights...

Forced induction is definately not required to hit 150rwkw! Have a quick gander through this thread, and that should get you there. Failing that, take $5,000 to jim mock/its performance and you're looking at 180rwkw naturally aspirated ;)

Of course this is hitting the upper limits of the 4.0 without forcing air into it, and if you're the type who's never content with the current power you have (like probably most of us  not that i'd complain with 180rwkw... ) then you're probably better off spending the funds going straight to the supercharger/turbocharger stage if your serious

your so right but the ea, eb and eds plastic interiour gets sun damaged and looks like s**t after a bit, still better looking than a holden but id love to get new undamaged door handles and a new centre console...... i have the stock momo xr racing steering wheel and the leather at the top is a bit shabby now a bit worn you might say but its in great nick for a car thats done 270,000 ks...

Bigger stall converter isnt doable (well havent heard of anyone doing it)

But changing diff ratios is as easy as changing to the correct speedo sender gear (even though you dont have to)

I went from a manual VN V6 to a manual EF I6 a few years back. The VN was definitely a rougher car but it felt fast because of the exhaust and the roughness of it  Even in manual form the commodore feels quicker to drive off the line and down low in the rev range (eg when I got the falcon I noticed going through in intersection in 2nd gear and then putting your foot down it took a bit longer to get going) I drove a mates VU ute (V6) the other day and it had a reasonable amount of torque down low but seemed to die in the a*** by 4000 rpm.
The VN only had a cat back exhaust, but was a shade quicker than a VRSS auto and dead even with an EB/ED manual V8 fairmont I raced one night. 3 sets of lights and we were both dead even, chirping 2nd at exactly the same time and neither of us pulling away. The VN at this stage had 250k on it and a blown headgasket patched up with chemiweld  but it still took everything I gave it and came back asking for more.

Spend a few bucks on an ED XR6 and you'll come out infront - or even better get an EF for the same money and spend a grand on mods and you'll be laughing - just hunt around for a manual!

Jim mock is doing a stall converter now i think. VN's are the biggest piece of ratling s**t around. Do good burnouts.....not for long though. My mate just went from a VN to an EB and he said he would never look back.

I use to have ED GLI and with 400,000 on the clock still took it to the VP and VR commondoors.
