hi there guys i may an oppurtunily to have a eb 4.0 and auto box ,i would like to fit into my xd ute ,but want to by pass the computor and wiringas it will be on gas ,has any body know how to trick auto to operate without its computor ,the engine is no problem i hope ?regards john

Need a few mods but the engine will fit easy enough but will need some sort of a computer to at least run the ignition. 4 speed auto doesnt fit in the x-series trans tunnel. I dont think there is any aftermarket control for them either

You might be able to throw on a EA CPI manafold and throw on a carbie! Im thinking about doing this to my XC. Pitty about the Trans tho :(.

i think you could also use one of early ea boxs with the kick down cable not a 100% sure though

You cant just chuck a carbie on as you may run into some very serious trouble if the EPA ever find out. best bet would be to use an EA 3spd box (or modify your trans tunnel a bit for the 4spd box) and run an EA computer to suit (no smartlock) along with your gas setup

If you get a pre Jun 92 EB (even series II) it wont have smartlock : So moving the ECU in for Trans control isnt an issue.

Or.. you could get an EA Trans control ECU (they were seperate in S II 4 Spd)
