Ive got an EB XR6 and was wondering what peoples thoughts are about how high you think its "safe" to rev the car ? i.e. beyond the factory 5400rpm, ive got a wade 977 and full exhaust and just got a chip from T.I and i was hoping to get a few hundred more revs out of it, however, i only went an extra 100 rpm with the chip fitted but pussied out pushing it any further, mind you it did sound a bit harsh up there, i know of people doing 6000rpm with no worries in an AU engine, but what are your thoughts about an 18y.o EB engine ?

uniacidz wrote: Why? If you arent making the power before 5700rpm and you already got a TI Chip 'TUNED' to your ride then you have a issue. Its not a Jap Crap honda man Wat? I dont think your answer really makes sense, but i think reworded you are saying its pointless if im making max power beforehand i assume??? but anyway the 977B cam is profiled to make power high in the rev range so im hoping to get more revs out of it, the car is pulling well up high and it seems to get to the stock redline of 5400 pretty easily, and i was wondering how much more i could push it, im thinking in the realm of about 5700? but anyway back to the original question..

I think you will find that with the 977b profile the power curve tends to drop off around the redline mark, whereas the 1521a keeps on pulling.
off the top of my head, correct me if im wrong. |

I take mine to 5700 daily in 2nd haha.
I wouldn't usually go any further tho. No more power there then from 5000 up really. It should take 6000 but not in every gear everyday at WOT everywhere. |

As you said, it is an 18 year old engine.
And it isn't balanced as well as later engines.

Seriously do people google "f**k up modifications for Fords owned by Jews" and get linked straight to this site nowadays? AU,factory fitted tickford kit/IRS, t5,Sports ryder/KYB: gone. |

My thoughts are that I would rebuild that engine before pushing it further than the stock red line. Ford set them up that low as they cheaped out on balancing them, and it was a safe cost effective limit.
Later engines like the AU have a higher red line, crank was better balanced & other things done to the engine to achieve the higher redline. Cheers ToranaGuy
