depends on the year of your car, it will depend on if it has central locking or not.

If its got smartlock, then it should have the remote.
Does it have a blinking smartlock light on the dash?

It will have central locking (actuators, etc), but not keyless if it's a pre smartlock (Aug/Sep 92) model.
What is the month/year build date off the compliance plate.

My 91 model EB s1 Xr8 has key operated central locking, but not remote operated like my Eb s2 car's do. Same door actuators used. Remote function is a part of the smartlock update in the Eb falcons.

You can hookup after market remote keyless entry to the factory central locking without too much effort.

Cheers

This is correct - don't bother with trying to fit smartlock, get yourself an alarm system, and remember the central locking is a -ve trigger type when fitting the alarm.

Sounds like your central locking is broken then. You could fit an after market system, with a little work. Might be easier to fix your factory locking, then fit an alarm that integrates with your factory locking & smartlock.

Cheers

^^^ Probably the best option - they sound way better than factory.
You could still fit ford actuators and wire them to the BEM, plus add a wire for the demister to train the factory keyfob.

Further on this, my EB 2 fairmont has remote central locking but I want to change the actuators to a type that unlock in less than 8 seconds preferably, like the newer falcons. And without that bastard a-rrrrrrrrrrr noise. Would actuators out of a AU or BA do the job without too much piss f@rt around? Better still, EL actuators, are they the fast type used on later model cars or the s**t house slow ones?
