eb head the best flow when stock, but the AU head has greater potential and better results when modified

but some people reckon EA-EB1's are quicker than EB2-ED due to being smaller and revving quicker. all i know is my EB1 S-pac kills my Dads EB2 Ghia

That is probably a 4.0 EB head (91AA-91AB) in that article.

From what i have seen there isn't much difference between the EBII up to early EL heads (excluding tickford models). I had a 91AA head off an EBII and a 94AB head off an EF which i compared side by side and they pretty much looked identical, same size valves, port shaping looked the same, same combustion chamber shape and design, same valve guide boss casting etc. The Tickford heads do have a few noticeable differences over the standard heads though. So in saying that, i wouldn't bother changing heads if you plan on keeping the head standard, unless you can find a Tickford head for a very good price and have a reason to take the head off, e.g blown head gasket.

My 2c worth..

i did go see an engine builder and he reckons the tickford heads are a bit better for flow. im unsure whether i'd be better off working an ef el tickford or a standard auIII head as i have a mate that might be replacing his with a vct one to chase a bit more power.

isn't the hybrid el head basically a tickford head without the tickford cam??
