Hey all,

does anyone know if it is possible to upgrade an EB computer to a EF (OR LATER ). ater driving my misses EF i feel ashamed at how gutless my car is. if it is possable what changes need to be made (eg comp plug / wiring / sensors etc). is there an easier way to incse to preformance without magor modification or expense.

( My better half is sick of me spending money on my cars and i cant afford to have my car of the road for more than a few days)

You can upgrade to EL (not ef) but it wont go better because its tuned for an EL engine.

In short - You cant make an EB drive like an EF/EL by just swapping computers.

BIG difference in the intake manifold (log manifold in EB, dual runner in EF onwards). The fuel and timing maps will be out and I would be surprised if you didnt lose power by putting an EL computer on an engine with a log manifold.

The head and cam is also a little difference

So basically it would be easier for me to install an ef engine?
Wot would be involed in modifying me toy to suit the engine?
(might pinch my missus motor. LOL)

EL is probably going to be easier for you than EF (as EF's run coil pack ignition and EL's use the same dizzy setup as your eb). If you want to use an EF engine, keep the dizzy from the eb and stick that in the EF block.

OR, if you just want it to run a little better, grab a regrind cam from wade for $120, some extractors and 2.5" exhaust and it will go harder than the EF.

Get your hands on a stock EF cam and slot it in. Should make your old girl move a bit quicker. EF cam has about 20degrees more duration on both the inlet and exhaust. Same lift. If you want more, Grab and adjustable timing gear and advance the cam timing up to 6 degrees for some more low down power over the stock EF cam position.
