Jesus theres some bad knowledge out there!
Guys, 14.7 is the stoichiometric air/fuel ratio figure. its the scientifically proven optimum ratio of fuel to air for any naturally aspirated engine regardless of size or modifications. running below that is rich and used for startup and heavy acceleration of load and running above that is used for economy only as it can cause damage to your engine. If that ratio is being kept all the way up the rev range then whoever has tuned that engine has done it based on the basic foundational knowledge used by the manufacturers in the industry - its a great tune for both economy and power in balance but ridiculously hard to achieve in most cars. how did he manage to keep that ratio so level? as for timing - 18 degrees BTDC is pretty aggressive, but not unheard of. the piston will be barely moving at that point since it sits at tdc for about 5 degrees anyway before beginning the drop on its power stroke. I wouldnt go any further than 18, not without some serious internal work anyway - pulling it back a couple of degrees wouldnt hurt your top end power but will add a touch more longevity to the engine.

sorry for the deep mining - I was looking some stuff up and this thread popped up with it..
I had been reading on another site about a guy who thought his car was using too much gas due to a faulty fuel pump giving it too much!... injected car... fuel regulator working fine... thats not possible.... on a third site a guy was having rough idle and stalling issues - auto, xr6. usually a coil pack fault - first point to look at, everyone was pointing fingers at the tune and the idle speed itself....
