my fuels putting out 14.69 which i super lean, but i think its coz i have an auto comp, thats causing s**t to play up, so its not a bad figure... u know much about advancing timing mines at 18 degrees

The reason it so lean is cause the timing is advanced so far, you be lucky if the car doesnt start pinging and causing real problems by leaving it like that on a stock motor

Pinging sounds like a can of marbles rattling around in your engine.

Can be very damaging as I learnt. Knocked 2 dirty great holes in 2 of the pistons in my EF XR8

so i gather id recognize pinging quite easily, i have the normal engine sounds, but when i accelerate more it kind of gets louder like a hissing type flakey sound, i dont think its pinging the mechanic didnt say it was... :/ confused!

Pull out the plugs, give you an idea if its to lean, lean is bad, real bad. I would be concerned about 18 advance.

there are two types of pinging, the one that you can hear... which is fixable, and is definately noticeable.. rattling sound, can shaking, marbles hitting, whatever you wanna call it. And then there's the silent pinging which does the damage... be aware.

As for your timing, if your engine is running fine, good. if it feels s**t, sluggish, flat spots, then take your timing back a bit... if I were you though, I would keep it on premium just in case.. use 98RON too, might aswell...

As for running lean, I wouldn't blame it on the auto comp.. cos it will control the fuel the same, just idling, and other little things that get affected. Could be caused by your stuffed fuel reg? if not, clogged injectors?

Cheers

if you ment it was running at 14.6:1 A/F at WOT at high revs....dont expect it to last too long

a safe mix is 12.7-13.2

thats what my EF is throwing out at the rears too - 172rwhp = 130rwkw...

i have no idea what the fuel ratio is at, all it says at the bottom of the sheet is FUEL - 14.69, but it shows that it keeps that same figure through out the whole rev range, i dont think its pinging the mechanic said it wasnt, i might bring it back to 16 to be safe, so is 130rwkw good for an eb xr6 with full exhaust and K&N panel filter?
