Hey i recently joined the forum looking for an E series falcon and i ended up picking up a cheap EB II S XR6 5speed. Now the cars actually been very good so far, the only real problem I've encountered is the gearbox, it can be really hard to get into gear i.e. 1st and reverse from stop. Driving along doesnt seem to be too bad, maybe sometimes it can be a bit dodgey into 3rd but no real issues.
Now i havent changed the gearbox oil yet, this could possibly be an issue as the car hadnt really been driven in a long time and all the oil and fuel in it was really bad, so the idea of it having some crappy old GB oil is very very likely, I'm just wanting to know are there any particular GB oils anyone would recommend for the T5? The gearbox really doesnt seem too bad driving along but getting it into gear from neutral can be a real task.

Could be a EA-EB1 T5, where theres no reverse syncro, this would explain difficulties in getting reverse.
However, getting into 1st could be clutch adjustment, or syncro itself. Best Oil IMO is: Castrol Tranzmax-Z Followed by: Penrite xtra light gear oil Dextron with pentite Lubrizol additive. (yes ATF fluid) Castrol VMX80

does the clutch pedal sit low? it could be dragging, when moving its not really an issue, but from stationary, you get what your experiencing. bring the pedal out a bit, adjustment is next to the brake booster on the engine side of the firewall. could be a combination of things including this and condition of clutch, syncros, bearings, oil. clutch pedal adjustment is free start there.

Ive done endless clutch adjustments but hasnt solved the issue, i definently think its a clutch issue and not the gearbox, its all great when the cars going along no problems just when u stop/start it starts to become a b**ch, thanks for the help

I'd be puting a new clutch in it, no stuffin about, and change the oil in the box at the same time.
Check for wear on the clutch fork pivot plate and bolt, as well as the fork. Check for wear on the g'box snout too ( grooves from release bearing ).
