Hi there, can anyone help me with my EBII 4.0 ? I recently removed and cleaned the PCValve ( in rocker cover ) with metho and noticed oil had gone down the hose into the throttle body. Does this mean anything major ? Is it prudent to buy a new PCValve, if so how much ? Engine @ 205,000kms.
Also I have put in a water temp sender ( goes in the thermostat housing ) which has three outlets for vacuum tubing ?!?. Where do they go ? I put in a Spack/Fairmont gauge cluster and understand this is needed for the temp gauge. I have looked in Gregorys manual and the photos don't show where they end up. I've looked at heaps of posts but there's so many. Any help really appreciated.

Hi There
First check your PCV valve is working OK..... 1. The valve should be a snug fit in the rubber seal. 2. Remove from rocker cover and shake. you should hear the check ball rattling. 3. Start engine. Put end of finger over end of valve that goes into rocker. It should try to suck your finger into the valve lol. 4. The valve will suck oil droplets / vapour into the intake manifold. This is normal. In fact, if you removed the manifold and tipped it on end, a noticeable amount of oil will trickle out, especially on a 200k motor. 5. PCV valves are fairly cheap. Make sure you get a metal bodied one if you decide to replace it. With regards to the temp sender...... 1. Its not a temp sender. Its a thermal vacuum switch. Its something to do with heating or air con etc. There should be a black rubber bung with small vacuum tubes in it. This fits over the thermal vacuum switch. 2. The temp sender for the cluster is the small one on the right of the thermostat housing. 3. The large sensor on the left of the housing is one sensor the ECU uses to help determine optimal timing / mixtures depending on engine / coolant temp. |

Thanks a Lot Gutsa for your help.
I can sort out the PCValve ( with the advice you gave ) But re the Thermal vacuum switch, do you know where the three vacuum tubes end up ? The only photos I have seen ( Gregories EA manual nd Ellery's ) only show above engine photos and no info about vacuum lines at all....!@#** ?? Anyway thanks again mate.
