I am runningan EL ecu in my EA. The 4spd g/box is run by a seperate controller.
My question is when you change from econ to power etc does it change anything else in the EL ecu other that the shift patterns. ie fuel maps etc. Any info appreciated.

Hi there,
How are you running an EL ECU in your EA? Is it a standard EA MPI engine? Are there any gains to be had from doing this? How hard is it to swap over? |

Whats the difference in Economy mode then normal mode?

In economy mode, it moves the auto shift points lower in the rev range and lengthens them, making them softer. The idea is for saving some fuel.

Yep. Different shift points depending on throttle position and also lower line pressure in economy mode.

line pressure? Do you mean as in fuel line?
That's interesting, I didn't know that |

That's interesting, I didn't know that Lol, nah sorry mate - gearbox line pressure. The S5 solenoid controls the pressure of the transmission fluid in the box - the lower the pressure, the slower all the parts move and the slower/more sluggish the gear change... i.e. electronic shift kits are designed to increase line pressure in the box and increase the speed/force of gear changes. Fuel pressure is controlled by a regulator based on manifold vacuum.
