I have an ED Fairmont, it is a hunka, it has been in 2 accidents and fairly cheaply repaired both times. I am thinkin about putting the ED i6 engine into an XF ute, along with the driveline. Suspension, steering, diffs, the lot. The reason for the suspension and diff mods is because I am happy with the handling and such of the car as it is, and the XF utes have leafsprings for carrying loads. Eventually I would like to go the manual conversion, from an EA when one pops up at the right price. All will be engineered if I go ahead with the project, which will be a long term one due to time and money restrictons. And I have my EL as adaily driver, so it can take a fair while.
So thats the story, now for the questions.
What modifications need to be made to the engine?
Will the gearbox (currently the ED 4spd auto, replacing the XF auto or manual) need to be modified to be fitted?
As the XF has leafspring suspo, how do I fit it with the suspo from the ED?
Anyting else that will give me grief?
Is the engine bay in the XF ute similar to the EA, as I know someone putting an EB2 4.0 into an EA?
If I use the ED manifold and cat conv, will he XF or ED exhaust and mufflers fit, or will i need a custom made set up, if so what will need to be custom made?
More questions to come as I think of them, feel free to make comments, let me know your opinions or suggestions. thanks

First things first you will need a few things off an XG ute.cause in reality thats what your trying to do. Forget about the suspension part of the exersize unless you cut the front off the ed and weld it on the xf (xh).I think it might be easier with an xg wiring loom the rest will bolt straight in (Not sure on gearbox mounts)XF unleaded exhaust should bolt up to the cat on the ed manifold.Things you will need
XG header tank and brackets (you will have to weld these in
XG radiator mounts (use the ED radiator)
There are more things but my head isn't with at the moment if I think of anything else I'll put it in.
