Hey guys... i bought a ed wagon about 6 months ago and the abs light has always been on.

So first idea was clean the sensors. so i cleaned all the sensors.. (they were filthy with metal filings) with brake cleaner i cleaned them

Still no good.

So i come on here on how to diagnose and i read the tech document on fordmods and bridged out the 3rd pin on the top row and bottom row with a alligator clip to try and get a diagnose. However i get no lights flashing what so ever for the diagnose. However my fuse box panel looks different from in the picture. my white connector is underneath my fusebox.

any ideas guys.. and i have searched and spent 3 hours googling with different things and i havnt found anything for when u get no diagnose.

Thx in advance for the help guys

In my fairlane the abs light comes on when the reverse light fuse was blown
Small chance it could be that?
Don't know why it would do that though haha

ABS control relay and the ABS modulator relay is under the header tank. Looking from the front of the car, it's the first on the left and last on the right respectively.

Thanks,

Evan.

I really don't know, mate. I would suggest calling a brake shop, see what they say.

This happened to my ED when I changed the battery. Ended up having to get another abs module (above pedal box) from the wreckers.

previous owner would not have installed non abs rotors by chance? yours have the pulse wheel on the inside? they are not EF/EL rotors?

The EF/EL has the diagnostic port located above the fusebox, wheras the ED diagnostic port is located below the fusebox. It sounds like you have read the EF/EL tech doco and I'm not sure if the procedure is the same.

Why will it matter if they are EF/EL rotors if they still have the ABS tone wheel? They should be the same rotor I beleve.

hey gab...thx for posting...this is the tech document I read
documents.php?d=48
it does say Ed...and say behind the fusebox and the
picture shows of a el ...so I'm wondering if they got the tech document mixed up and maybe Ed has a different procedure

It only happened after a battery change and as far as I know thats a reasonably common problem.
It went in for a blue slip and they said they looked at the rest of the system and couldnt see any faults, so by process of elimination I went to the wreckers and got a module.
