Howdee all. I just recently started throwing some money away into my Ford. I am looking at getting cold air intake added. Just wanting some ideas of what the best way to go is. Does this help much in performance?
i recently had pacemaker headers and high flow cat 2.5" exhaust put on. This semms to of helped a little with the performance. I must say I was quite happy with the note it has produced even for an auto. I will at some satge try and get a photo on to show the car. She is in pretty good nick for an old girl. Bought it off some guy who spent a fair bit on keeping it upto scratch, Has any one supercharged there six? and if so, what was the outcome? Full of questions today. Has anyone grabbed a xr6 turbo motor and shoved it in an old girl like mine? |

I hate it when people flame you for not using the search function.
However, in this case, I know there is information regarding BA/BF engines going into E-series cars, because I have had a look myself. It has been done, with a lot of trouble due to VCT. But have a look around. K&N Panel filter would be the best sort of intake mod, with a XH ute snorkel. EA MPFI intake pipe is slightly bigger than the EB-ED ones. Cam would be a good mod. Search around for information on them. BBM's give better bottom end torque also. Supercharged inline sixes aren't really the way to go. Turbo is much easier and better. Search around for that too.

I'm pretty sure there is a good reason not to s/c a 4.0L Falcon. I think it was that it wouldn't pass emissions tests.

Hay cheers Brady.
Some great info pretty new at this. was getting a new Xr8 ute, but some how my misses ended up with a new tribute. So it looks like the old girl is going to get a revamp. I am going to check those details on the Air intake. Turrbo is a pipe dream, maybe one day. -------------------------------------------------- ED Fairmont Pacemaker Headers. Very true, But what alot of people forget to mention is that you would also need the lower section of the EA air box because the EA intake pipe being larger does not fit tight on the EB2-ED lower air box section. The EB2-ED top of the air box fits straight on to the EA lower section. The XH snorkel is a worthwhile upgrade because it gives better throttle response. If you do this mod you will notice that there are raised sections where the original intake bolts onto.....They will need to be shaved off in order for the XH snorkel to fit.

With this XH snorkel. Do you usually go for after market or through wreckers searching . there is a business in my area called PITSTOP that choose and install intake for most model cars and i was thinking of checking these guys out. I was originally going to get these guys to fit my new exhaist. I ended up going to Berklee. I am very impressed with there work.

if its a auto then dont bother with other engine mods, just focus on gearing. get a 3.9 or 4..11 diff and i bet it will make more of a diffrence then any other mod apart from supercharger or turbo.
and btw who said superchargers dont go good on i6's????? ive never herd a complain from someone that actually has one

It is MUCH easier to get a supercharger kit engineered compared to turbo. This is because the most popular kits (CAPA) are all engineered approved (for emissions and structure). After you install the kit all you need to make it 100% legal is to get an engineer to certify that the kit was installed according to the instructions.
