Guys, please I need your help!
My fairmont which has been going fine suddenly stopped-- Last night I went to move the car so I got in, started it and all was well until I put the high beam on and then-the car cut out..If I try to start it it is like there is no fuel which there is..Smart lock seems to be working ie-flashes on dash when car is locked ect..BUT-when you put the high beam on with ACC the indicator lights at front stay on/no high beam and the cluster signs(hazzards/temp warning/smart lock) just flash...I have checked the blade fuses inside the car and there is no problem there.. Can anyone please help me? |

Battery? Also check the alternator.

Yeah I forgot to mention that the battery is near new and the alternator is fine (had that tested before changing battery)

could be, ecu relay, fuel pump relay, dissy module...

Could you please tell me where these relays are? Are they under the overflow bottle? Also, apart from changing them over, is there a way to tell if they are buggered? Many thanks in advance! |

Many thanks in advance! yeah they are under the surge tank, pump relay is green, ecu relay is brown.. not sure how to test them just get some from the wreckers and change em over..

Save yourself a bit of hassle and time (possibly) - earth to the chassis the top right diagnostic connector pin, turn IGN on.
If the fuel pump runs continuously, there's not an issue with the fuel pump relay or ECU relay.

Mate, i could pop round with a multi meter and that and give ya a hand to see if we can sus out the problem

NP. Check the earth bonding of the car - i.e. with a meter, check the battery -ve to engine block, and then to the frame, see if the resistance is low enough.
Check the relay block near the battery, may've had some moisture ingress, battery terminals, etc.

Well I got a auto elec guy to come out this morning as the car is sitting there and I need to get it going of course for work..He checked all the relays as mentioned and the fusable links-all fine BUT there is no pulse at the fuel injection nor is there any spark at the spark plugs-
He then said "have a look where your dizzy is" F@#k, under the inlet manifold.He suggested the car needs a ford ecu diagnosis as he couldn't do one since he doesn't have a scanner tool..He suggests maybe bad ecu or dizzy... What do you guys think? I did what you said sexyxr6 and tested the relays and the fuel pump stayed on as mentioned... |

TFI module on the dizzy mate, that should fix it

where can I get one of those from and are they expsensive?
If I change this part over do I need to get the timing done again? Also, hwo can I tell if I have multipoint or centrepoint injection? Many thanks in advance! |
