Hi there all,
I have this ED Fairmont that wont crank over after battery change, the bloke i bought it off had the terminal that has fusible links on the negative side as he had battery round wrong way!, even tho he had negative on negative and positive on positive!! Its like there is no power going to the starter motor, i have checked all fuse's, relays and all seems ok. I also thort it could be the neutral safety switch, but its not., and its not the bcm either, thort it was that too!!. It was going bout month ago but not now!!, can anyone help please?,. It could be something i havn't thought of looking at. |

Hi,
As you would gather I have an EL, not ED. The wiring is very different. When you turn the ignition on, do all the warning lights come on ? It could be a smartlock issue, first thing I would try is a cable to the solenoid and see if it cranks / fires. ( we need a sticky for fuses to check after reverse polarity ) It could even be a bad starter. You will need to eliminate as much as you can. Re-check all fuses and fuseable links. Good luck 96ELGli

Hi all,
I found the problem why it had no power to starter, it was a little blue relay(if thats what its called) just under the header tank with only 2 wires goin to it (red/blue-orange/black). The little bastard lol!!. Thanx 96ELGli for your input!!. Regards,Jason. |
