Hi,
Just now, my battery light came on while driving back from McDonalds about 5 minute drive back home, just checked my alternator belt is ok, so what could it be? |

ausedwagon wrote: did it do it this morning? well it came on afew minutes after afew minutes of driving this morning, what i've done afew hours later is i went to the carwash and high presure washed the alternator, as there was gunk all over it would cleaning it fix the problem?

im not too sure honestly but it might make a diff. im hoping someone here will know a lil more about how it works.. i know what id dose but would dirt and grease stoop it working?
back on track tho... what sort of cluster do you have?

it could be the regulator has worn out on the alternator and isnt charging the battery. if you've never replaced it and had the car for a while i'd be checkin it. although i think u need to pull the alternator off to get to it..I've never done it on the a falcon..only on a commodore.

back on track tho... what sort of cluster do you have? the cluster i've got is the simple layout with fuel taco and temp guages |

While I was at the shops I drop in to Kmart auto, the blokes checked it out, ended up being the alternator "overcharging" putting out 14.9 V said its too high. |
