Hey all,
I will be putting an ED XR6 worked engine into my EF. Now i know i wll have to put the BBM, heater pipe, aircon, coil pack, timing cover and crank angle sensor onto the ED engine. But the one thing i am stuck on is the knock sensor. How does this attach to the engine??? If i cant attach it, will the ECU allow then engine to run without it??? Thanks heaps in advance

Just put the knock sensor on the ED block, same at EF Block. BUT find a hole for bolt on ED where coil is.

you may need to drill a hole

Cheers for that guys,
I have had a look and everything will hopefully line up. One more question, what does the knock sensor actually do???? Is it just an attachment to the block? I had the feeling that it just notices when the engine is running rough, say with a bad batch of fuel. Will the ECU let it run without the knock sensor??? Cheers in advance

the knock sensor picks up detonation(pinging which is BAD!) in the cylinder, and with that the ecu retards the timing to get things back in order. At the end of the day they are only helpful and Im not sure if it will run without it

Thanks ebxr,
But is anyone able to confirm exactly how the knock sensor works. Will the ecu run without it? Is it an internal or external sensor (ie goes into the block) Thanks heaps again
