TK test will tell you if you have a leak into a port can buy the kit cheaply thru veales or repco.

a TK test will see if there is evidence of exhaust gases in the coolant/water which will show signs of a leak into the cylinder from a water jacket.
its a dye based system that when combined with co2 will change colour simular setup to the red tecaloy coolant as that will change colour if gases are present.

my friend had a similar problem in a s**t box magna
a bottle of metallic-seal up and problem gone, has gone good for 2 years one of my grandfathers tractor had water getting into the oil and he put a bottle of metallic-seal up in the rad and didn't even bother draining it out has had the same water in if for 7 years or so (since then he keeps a spare bottle of the stuff in his shed) $10 if it works it works if not you lose $10 no biggie |

I bought some of that stuff already..
was going to put it in today actually.. after I checked the plugs to see if one is cleaner than the others. |

Slowly undo the coolant cap after the engine is cold - maybe next morning before running the engine - see if there is pressure still there.

I just put a metalized sealer though it as it gets me to work and I can't get stranded atm.
Ithink it might be a crack in the expansion take as there is some water marks under it. I hope that is the case as I'm stuffed if its the head and this doesn't fix it for a while |

I replaced the expansion tank with one I bought today as I think it had a hairline crack near where the little hoses go on.
remains to be seen if it was the problem or not but today it didn't use water so so far so good. |
