I have an ED falcon auto that will randomly not start and then will start, have had a mechanic look at it and change the starter motor but still does the same thing, it might start for a few days then you will drive somewhere and it will just not start again but once started will normally start for a couple of days no problems. It is not caused but locking and then unlocking the car as car has smartlock, it can just driving somewhere then turning off the car for a few minutes and then trying to start it agin.
Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks
Peter

cant think of the name of it at the moment, but theres a switch in the gear selector that tells the ECU when its in Park or Neutral, if that s**t itself the car wont crank.

It sounds like Smartlock to me.

The remote central locking is a separate component of the Smartlock Module. It can work fine while the other is non functional. The Smartlock side fails on a fairly regular basis. One way around this is to thump the dash just above the handbrake handle as the Smartlock module is located there.

You will need to find another Smartlock module, and hopefully it works, install it, turn the car on to Reds for approx 30mins, the locks will cycle and then you should be able to start the car.

The other possibility is as suggested by Alfy, the 'Inhibitor Switch' which is located on the left side of the auto transmission.
