What are the differences engine speaking between an ED XR6 vs EL XR6 in the four 3-4 years that serparates them..
love the look of em both so potential first cars fo me.. ive got a site open that tells me the EB XR6 4.0 engine power is: 161kW at 4600rpm and the EL at 164kW at 5000rpm and the EL has more torque.. Are EL's alot more reliable than the EB's? Got any good info about the EB's let me know, will be appreciated thanks

ey man i would go towards the later model car as its probably just a generally newer better car, If your budget stretches that far. I would have to say if i had y pick of the E- series tho i would have a purple xr6 with sun roof (drools over keyboard).

if i cud get EB for cheaper though (as long as it was reliable and stuff) would be more left over for mods and thumping sound system

i reckon the ED's can look pretty damn mean though... I might get an EL XR6 and take the red trim off, even tho i kinda like it... so many choices to be made... lol

From memory, the EL's had more balancing on the crank, making them a lot smoother to rev (and giving them another 500rpm to play with), a different head and cam spec's. The rest of the drive train is pretty similar.
If you are on a budget, I would be going for a really clean EB/ED XR6 manual with a sprint body kit. As you say, that'll leave you a bit of money to play with bits and peices!!

I have had my ED XR6 since 1999 and have had no problems 289,XXXk's but I do know that the A/C pumps in the EF/EL s**t becauce of the lack of air flow from the front and the EL's have issues with there coils for the same reason..

If you can drive auto fine and know all the road rules, you would only need like 3-4 lessons in a manual to get good at it. Its a pretty simple concept and once you got it down its easy as pie.

Why does it need to be someone elses manual for your to practise in? Buy a manual XR6 then you have no option buy to learn how to do it

yeah i guess... but id rather just 100% get my licence for sure then worry about manual.. but yeah ur right, i can drive auto and that fine so i might just get a few lessons with racv and see how i go. i had a manual lesson with this guy and it just put me off he was so f*** annoying id rather just teach myself..
