Thanks for the replies to all the people who have offered advice during the planning, installation and wiring of an awsome mod.
Originally, this EA series II (8 seater family wagon) was fitted with the stock 3.9ltr. After a serious overheating (and I mean serious!!!!!) I decided to drop in an XR6 motor, aluminium radiator and twin thermo's. The result is incredible!! Overall, I think the power has been boosted at least 20%. I have performed all the work and completed the job fairly cheap (around $1500). I haven't had the chance to wash up under the hood, so don't be too critical!! Have a look!

I hear what your saying!!
I was interested in Multi inj, only I was talked out of it by the wreckers because of the ECU and loom conversions needed to run it. I've heard you can get mod chips (in line installations) for manipulating the ECU into tring a little harder. Has anyone had any experience with these?

Parts for EAs are pretty damn cheap. And no i haven't heard of that ECU mod

They are mentioned in the FAQ sticky - dont waste any time with them your next mod has got to be the MPEFI conversion . That xr6 engine which is normally rated at over 160kw is going to be suffocated by that cfi setup (CFI's were only rated at 120kw's).

Has anyone had any experiences with this mod?
Buying another EA for harvesting the MPI would work well cos I need a 5spd for my other project (XF Fairmont Ghia)!

Half way through EL motor and trans into an ED, took the day off work to do some research and found out some cool stuff on the bbm and thermo conversion. will let everyone know when it fires up in a couple of days.

mpfi you dont need the loom, just the manifold (oh the loom attatched to that but that's part of it anyway) with injectors and sensors etc attached, the ecu, and the fuel pump.
as per fordtech.com (if it is still there) you only need to change one wire in the CFI engine loom for idle control to do the multipoint conversion. you most likely will be able to get it to work with the CFI distributor also (the engine probably has a multipoint one unless you changed it anyway) and you will get an even bigger power kick |

Yep... one wire needs to be changed, and the ECu needs to be changed and that is all. I did the MPFI conversion on my old EA which after the conversion pulled out 111rwkw, pretty awesome if you ask me.
