hahah,, yer that was me,, had a few dramas that day, dodgy brakes, and ended up melting the accelerator cable. It wasn't a real fun drive home. And I've still got marks from that tape on the door.. All the same it was a fun day..

this, along with things like the overheat shutdown, and sequential injection (or are AU's batch fire too?), are the reasons I want to try an AU ecu.

thanks for the smartlock/smartshield tip, i guess AU S1 would be the go, as smartshield came in with S2 iirc?

Cheers,

IIRC AU's are SEFI up to 3000-3500RPM (or whatever it is), then change to bank injector firing. Have a read of page 2 (last couple of posts) & 3 (top couple of posts) of http://www.fordmods.com/forums/viewtopi ... c&start=20 .

good luck with it all, I have changed the wiring the EL to suit a AU II VCT engine. They are not a pull out and replace job. There is a fair amount of work involved in the rewiring. Basically I bought a spare ECU-engine loom and rewired that with the AU loom. Not impossible to do but hard. I also used the AU BCM and Key setup, as all three "talk" to each other. With out it the Inj and pump, starter dont work

i think i will try the EF stuff first, and if i struggle move to AU. i havent found much info about either on the forums.

my main effort will be to compare my J3 with my factory bin and try to work out what was changed.

see how we go.
