Hi guys, my EF when started warm revs to 2500rpm before slowly dropping to normal idle. On cold start up to 1000rpm but drops nicely to normal idle.. Anybody have any idea as to whats going on and how to rectify the high rev at warm startup?? EF is an option20, would that have anything to do with it?

option 20 just means its an ex cop car, someone correct me if im wrong.
ive got a EF gli that does the same thing. first start it up and it revs to 2500rpm, stays there for a while then slowly drops to normal idle. Would also like to know how to fix it. |

think its somethin in the throttle body, not sure what tho, a mate had the same problem in his xr6 and replaced whatever it was and it come good again

Have you tried cleaning the Idle Speed Controller (located on top of the throttle body)? Give it a clean with some carby cleaner & a small brush. Over time it can clog up with carbon.

Also known as the idle control sensor. Idle control soilonoid and something else.
My car was doing the same on warm starts but was also hunting when warm so I got another from the wreckers for 20bucks. To easy. |

Hey thanks for that guys.. Yip disconnected battery and removed the ICS spraying with CRC MAF cleaner, fitted a new OXY sensor and turned everything electrical on including brake pedal before reconnecting battery after an hour or so. I gotta admit idles real nice now but still the annoying warm start problem.. Yes you're correct option20 is an ex N.Z. Police owned vehicle, however is blue pictured in my gallery. Robbed the wheels from my XE and fitted to the EF, still have the cop wheels tucked away:)
