Can anyone tell me why there is a slight bump when the car is warm and I am sitting at the lights at idle? It only does it 2 or 3 times in a minute and the missus recons it is slowly getting worse. Could it be the leads?

a bump? or a miss?

i'd start off by checking your spark plugs and leads, if that doesn't sort it, i'd then move onto checking the air filter.. Try cleaning your idle speed controller on top of your throttle body, quite simple. goodluck!

Have XR6 so I think the cam has a little performance. Have a cheap Pod filter , could that cause any problems?

Yes I think it is a miss. If I am going to change leads, are top gun the way to go for good travel of spark and can I run 1 or 2 MSD coils.

I was going to say if it is due to turning the A/C on ... it's a normal thunk/bump sound when the compressor turns on.

Thanks for the info about the miss. I replaced a cheap Pod that I put on earlier in the year, with my original air box and put in a K&N. panel filter. The respose has been substantial. I am banking on about 10KW. So thanks for the heads up on the filter!!!

one thing to bear in mind with k & n filters and other high flowing filters is that more flow = less filtration.

not sure about 10kw but yes the std setup does flow quite nicely.

nice car too by the way. looks familiar

The K&N does make a difference. I dynoed a number of mods some years ago on an EF1 XR6 and a EF2 XR8 and we found it made 2-3Kw more on both engines?. I run the same filter now in an EL Fatura I6 manual and it does make a difference but not greatly?
