Hi,
Can anyone advise? Drove my car to town 5 ks away running fine. Went to go for a drive car wouldn't start, hard at winding over as if timing was out. after a while engine started but only idles, as soon as you try to crack the throttle open runs like s**t pops etc. Has had a top overall new timing chain etc. Checks on electrics came up fine, few k's on the old girl 290. Possible thinking it maybe coilpack. The car has been running fine no problems at all, just suddenly decided to run like this.
Any ideas?????

Cheers

Hi There

If the coil pack is the original ( 290 K ), then I would
probably replace that first. Maybe leads as well if they're original.
At least you'll know for sure whether or not that's the problem,
then go from there.

Other options in no particular order....

Faulty / dirty Crank Angle Sensor.
Not loosing coolant , oil clean etc ?? ( the ol' head gasket )
Any cr*p coming out of exhaust ??
Fuel pump iffy.
Fuel Filter - when was it replaced last ??
Faulty / clogged injector (s).
TPS out of range.
