hey all started my ef this morning and the cluster keeps intermittently dying then coming back on
and she has decided to accelerate like a datsun it free revs fine just moves way slower in gear. i checked the cluster plugs are ok also noted abs light is going on and off and now the volts guage is climbing right up to the top. keen to hear any opinions cheers Mystro |

I'd say your voltage regulator is dying/dead, or you have a bad earth, or simply hardened wiring which needs to be replaced.

tester says faulty alternator ,digging out multi meter to check hopefully blown fuse

alternator is pumping out 16.5 volts damn

you will find that most efs had a power steer leak witch kills the alternator over a period of time

Indeed they do but normally when it dies from oil contamination it just stops charging. This is a voltage regulator issue that has seen the charging voltage significantly increase. Since its an integrated unit, time for a new alternator.

yep time for a new alternator .
i look at my engine everyday and the p/s/p ,high pressure line is a few thousand km old all latest genuine orings,washers has a p/s/p cooler behind the front vent aswell ,so yeah no p/s leak caused this one . i thinks it occured when i jump started it from the territory the other day .been taking short drives lately and listening to music while building a fence for my mum . 2400 wrms of amps probably doesnt help the regulators life span either. |
