Im thinking i may be able to get away with using a EF airbox where the battery is. Ill turn it 90° right from its original position so that the air out hole moves from top left to top right, then make the original snorkle hole a cold air intake and make a modded snorkle.

Just thinking about it the lead for the starter motor will be shorter and wont run under the k member. the only problem is the distro block for s**t around the car which can be fixed with some decent bettery terminals and some 0 gauge cable. Battery relocation boot or original airbox side would be a piece of piss...but think ofg the f@rt arsin round...etc ....for the benifits it isnt worth it ...unless u dont care so much for that, the costs involved and just really wanna do something different. Running 0 guage dude...what for....do u really need it ? and at $35p/metre i think that idea will fade quickly if its unnecessary.

Only thing with running your intake piping to the other side is the fact that you'll be running your intake pipe straight across the top of the exhaust..
Possible that any increase in performance will be conteracted by warmer intake? |

be careful playing around with intake pipe length on N/A motors!!!
Like length of pipe between airbox/filter to T/Body Simular sicence to runner length but can dramaticly change response and peaky rpm. I read a bit about it before i had my custom plenum made, and one article i found interesting was a dyno test with a std LS1, testing the aftermarket bolt on induction kits. they played around with different lengths and widths and came to the conclusion that the factory length was ideal. Width didnt make much difference, but would do if high hp was being chased. imo, pod in a box! the falcon airboxes are a great design, all the high HP rice boys are using them coz of the good flow and capacity. my 2c

Possible that any increase in performance will be conteracted by warmer intake? A heatshhield on the extractors is aa definate good idea then. But in reality, the inlet manifold is alrready bolted onto the hot head, and the intake pipe already runs overr the top of the hot rocker coveer, so I doubt it'd raise temps in the intake pipe much. |

and the fact that the air passes at massive speeds with not enough time to to heated up too much. Buth that blows the simple intercooler rule

thats true but IMO because the air is basically compressed then let to expand it cools it like a firdge cools stuff... I think that makes sense.

yah
then there is the theory that hot air flows quicker then cold, hence guys getting exhaust mani's/exhaust ceramic coated to keep the heat. But for intakes, cold cold cold!!!! Ive seen first hand with different FMIC's

All this air induction stuff is alway interesting. But i am starting to think ford did it the way it is for a reason...

I think one of the reasons why ford has that big bend is becuase it keeps the intake pipe nice and long. (good for low-down torque)
