alright, so i got an EF Futura Wagon.
police spec dash, trip comp, full electric windows, and full courtesy lighting[led's], cd player with sub and amp. recently i have noticed the battery gauge dropping down to 11/12v mark, then slowly returning to 14v+ after a short while. [usually drops when accelerating, and it happens even if there are no lights or stereo on] i though it could be an earth fault, but no other gauges move and all earths appear tight, so i'v ruled that out. i'v read that EF's from factory come with a 110amp alternator, but i noticed mine only has a 100amp one. i'v had the car for a few months and it has been fine. are the brushes serviceable? or should i just find an EF one? did police cars have higher rated alts? cheers. |

It is possible that your drive belt is loose which means it is slipping when you rev the motor or accelerate. The flatter your battery gets then the more it slips.Have you had any squealing noises when you take off or when you first start the motor? Also is your power steering leaking onto your alternator.Hope this helps.Kevman.

The alternators are serviceable, and it might need a set of brushes. It's a fiddly job, auto elect's should have one ready to change over for you.
Cheers ToranaGuy
