am I reading it right that the engine/head is stock apart from cam change (and im assuming harder valve springs). If so 160rwkw would be very, very impressive.

i just got offerd a au engine with 130 thow ks on it for $600 is that good or not ?

Not bad but if you've got time look around you may get an xr6 motor for the same price

probly on the higher end of the scale. Do a ring around and see what sort of headwork you can get done for the $300 difference.

i can get the engine for 700 but he wants change over and i dont want that hes a gready bloke i think

Might be worth it if he will do $400 exchange cause he will want to sell yours for at least $500

Can i just check, by 'all the timing gear' is it just the rocker gear that needs swapping from the early head into the au to fit the early cam, not the timing sprockets as well ?

Also i noticed on the JMM article it says the ef/el had large ports and the au relativly small ports, so is putting an ef head onto an au a benifit ? Not sure how much compression would be effected.
