Ran a diagnostic over it and it's spat out codes 511 and 844: "511 - Internal EEC Module fault - Replace 844 - EEC is not receiving the Smartlock enable code from the BEM." Now, the 844 code is interesting because according to the manual it is only for V8's. Anyone had past experience with these codes? Any ideas? Going to remove the ECU and give the cables a wriggle etc. now. |

Ok, got a bit more info:
I removed the ECU, blew dust etc. off, it was all pretty clean anyhow. Reconnected, same story. Removed the Performance Chip Torque (it was supplied by CAPA in the supercharger kit). It then no longer gave me Code 511 - still gave Code 844 however. Removed the ECU, went and got a EF manual ECU which I have lying around from a manual conversion kit which I recently purchased. Now my car is still automatic at the moment. With the manual ECU in I still get both the Codes 511 and 844. I also get an additional Code 522: "NDS - Neutral Dirve Switch - KOEO test detected incorrect settings." I believe that Code 522 would be due to the ECU being a factory manual one and my car still being automatic transmission. Basically, this indicates that neither my current ECU nor the Chip Torque are the issue - I therefore, assume that in line with Code 844 the issue lies somewhere in the line from the BEM to the ECU - possibly wiring fault or BEM faulty. This is a positive as I'm sure a replacement GLi BEM is dirt cheap, compared to a replacement Tickford ECU! I guess I now need to find a way of testing the BEM or another unit to swap it with and see if it works... |

Any ideas on how to test the BEM? Or the connection between the BEM and ECU?
