I managed to find part of this Diagnostic mode from FM v1.0 in my old paperwork draw and thanks to whoever compiled it originally.
To get EF & ELs to bring up diagnostic modes on the Odometer dash screen do as follows verbatim. 1) While Key is in "Off" position press and hold Odometer reset button for 10 Seconds 2 Whilst holding the button in and immediately after the 10th Second, switch the ignition to the "On" position ( dont have to start car) 3) With the ignition now in the "On" position press the Odometer button again for 3 times only and in quick succession. 4) On the 3rd and final press hold the Odometer button in until the "Seatbelt sign" is no longer illuminated on the dash screen. 5) Then watch as the odometer should then go blank, then after about 10 seconds the flashing word "Ford" should be showing in the Odometer. 6) Then press the Odometer button once and this shall bring up the first diagnostic mode which is petrol in litres there are about 15 modes in all. To view the next one press odometer button for 1 second to view previous list hold Odometer button for 2 seconds. Modes are as follows: Mode--------------Top line--------------Bottom line 1. --------------- Petrol in litres------ Petrol sender resistance 2. ------------------------ Coolant temperature 3. ----------- Engine in RPM ------- Vehicle speed 4. ------- Oil pressure(Bar. 1 decimal point)---- Voltage in Battery 5. ---------instant fuel consumption---- Instant fuel consumption 6. --- Fuel used since trip avg L/100 Reset(x0.1)----KM's Travelled since 7. -- Buffered fuel tank level ( value in litres )-- buffered fulel tank sender 8. -------- Gear position 9. ------- 256- unknown value ----- varies from 00 unknown 10.------- 81-unknown value --------- 00- inknown 11. -------- 0000 ---- 1100 12. ---------- 1111 ---- 0000 13.------ 0000 --------------- 0000 14. -------------- 00 15. ------------------ 00 16. ------------- 00 17 ----------Top/ Bottom has Illumination of all segments of the Odo 18 ---Top/ Bottom blank Odometer screen.[/u]

is it only the EF/EL that have the diagnostic mode or does the newer stuff like the BA or the FPV have it? I know my mums 89 EA doesnt....
its quite a good feature that ford put in, i find it really handy when running sound system, lights and car charger, sitting down watching the battery voltage so it doesnt run flat...hell yeh i love it |
