Is it possible to swap an aluminium el/ef radiator into an eb? i keep having problems with the side tanks cracking so i thought i would fix it once and for all by installing an aluminium radiator but the only radiators i can find for normal pricing are for an el/ef. as far as i know i need 2 swap the bottom hose but which hose should i use? ef/el or ea/eb/ed? and will the mounting holes all line up without modification?
Thanks for your help guys Thorsten

the ef/el will bolt in the same, but the ef/el radiator has a smaller diameter lower hose outlet..
so the eb hose is to large.. and the ef lower radiator hose is to small to stretch over the eb water pump. i guess you can make a reducer from a pipe? or get the tanks swapped over?? |

Yeah i think i will get custom braided hoses and see if they can make a reducer. thanks for your help!

Natrad end tanks are reinforced down the seam, and wont crack.

Wouldnt the "custom braided hose" defeat the purpose of buying a cheaper EF rad in the first place?

lol righteo, if your old man has used alot of braid in his lotus, ask him how much -16 or -20 fittings cost...
then you've still got to get AN nipples welded onto water pump, rad, and thermostat housing. then that still doesn't change the fact that while you've got bling radiator hoses now, all your heater hoses are still rubber.

just purchase EF/EL pipes... (which i would replace anyway if you are replacing the rad..)
anyway they are the same unit, only difference i can see is the bottom hose of the overflow bottle.

the cheapest and easiest thing to do is just buy a new copper eb radiator... no mods required and will last longer than an alloy one....

as i mentioned before it will fit straight in, but you need to reduce the size of the bottom radiator hose to suit as ea/ed lower hose is larger than ef/el....
