hello all,
i was thinking about getting an AU engine to put into my car as the current one is getting over the hill, still goes perfect but at 340,XXXkms im looking into replacing it, but im starting to think now i might just put an ef/el xr6 engine in... my question is, a wreckers in melb has a el xr6 engine with 145,000kms for 800 and i have been quoted 400 for install, im trying to talk them down so i'll see how i go.. as im not from melb, i dont know any other wreckers down there, so i was wondering if anyone knows roughly how much these engines go for? and is that a good price for installation? any input would be great, thanks |

there is a place in WA called walliston wreckers who do non VCT AU xr6 engines for 800 or VCT 1s for 1100, also EL ticky 6s for 800. Dunno about install tho, look in ur local classifieds.

I might have an EL XR6 engine up for sale soon. When I get my act together and remove it from my car. $800 would seem fair for a decent low KM engine. Try FTG and see if they have any.
As for install, most places wont go near an engine swap for less than $600 - $800. If you're getting it for $400, don't push your luck, thats a bloody good price. Done it a couple of times now - as have a few others - and everyone will tell you its a prick of a job. |
