I've searched all over this forum and found various conflicting answers.
Can anyone confirm if the aux gear is the same for dizzy and the thingy that goes in the EF engine? i.e can I remove the thingy and bash in the dizzy and be sweet? For anyone thats interested, I got stung bad by a engine re-builder who has screwed up the engine bore and ordered pistons that were way too small =\ Not sure I have any come back as it was some time ago I had it done. So I cheap nasty EF engine is in line to go in. |

If you can, get the synchroniser with the EF engine, so you can swap the drive gear onto the dizzy that's going in.

Hey mate I put an EF engine into an EL no worries, ran EL dissy, manifolds, a/c pump, the whole lot, everything bolted straight in like it was meant to be, everything was identical and bolted straight in with no modifications.

Was happy with thread now conflicting info again.
One guy says aux gears are different, another couple say gears are exactly the same. Really confused now!! |

I have always chucked the dizzies in without any issues on both EF & AU motors....
Never had a problem, even I am confused why you would have to change them.

i was under the impression that the aux shaft and original diff were kind of like a mating pair. i have heard of aftermarket dizzy's chewing out aux shafts due to s**t material.
when i put the dizzy in my AU motor i'll be changing the gear off the AU synchroniser to my EA dizzy just to be safe

I have heard that also... but if the dizzy you have is working fine then no need to change it....
