Mates got a el falcon and has a spare ef motor, what needs to be changed to fit it, do you just need to fit the dizzy, change harmonic balancer and remove crank angle sensor? And change coil pack, is that it?

Dont change the Harmonic Balancer either. The EF One is a serpentine one so its right to go.

Hi guys on this same topic I am also about to install an ef motor in to my el. I havent started on it yet just doing my reaserch before I jump in to it.. so i got two questions, but just in case im wrong or if you's have any suggestions cheerz.
#1 taking a good look at the two motors I see the motors wiring looms have different connections where they plug up to the synch/dizzy and coil packs also has a plug, so im going to have to swap the motor looms around is this correct? #2 prior to removing the synchronizer place the motor to TDC#1. So simply install the dizzy with the rotor button stricking cyl#1. there are the words "finish" and "start" on top of the dust cover underneath the rotor as "finish" being first and "start" being last. i belive that when i install the dizzy have it on start as the dizzy spline gears engage it will rotate the dizzy anti clockwise making the rotor button rest at finish, is this correct? |

A) Correct, EF & EL looms are different due to the Dizzy/Coilpack. #2 prior to removing the synchronizer place the motor to TDC#1. So simply install the dizzy with the rotor button stricking cyl#1. there are the words "finish" and "start" on top of the dust cover underneath the rotor as "finish" being first and "start" being last. i belive that when i install the dizzy have it on start as the dizzy spline gears engage it will rotate the dizzy anti clockwise making the rotor button rest at finish, is this correct?[/quote] A) Correct. |
