Hey guys
I got home about 1hr ago and when i got out of the car i could hear weird noises coming from under the bonnet, i poped it to hear the sound of boiling water in the block. The temp gauge on the car was reading normal and alot of water was coming out of the overflow on the resavour(< soz for spelling). I felt around and the hose coming out for the thermo to the radiator was warm but did not feel like it had any pressure on it like it normally does when its hot. i left it for about 30mins and then backed it up to find a huge puddle of water under the car and alarmingly it has a oily feel to it and you can see that there is oil in it. Not sure were to start looking the car does not feel down on power and does not read that it is getting hot but the sound of boiling water in the block tells me otherwise. any help plz |

sounds like reservoir cap is shot.
the oil in it is a tricky one without seeing it

well if you said the temp was fine and as soon as you turn it off it started boiling and pissing water out i'd say the cap.
they are like $15. just replace it

The coolant temp sensor will start reading air temp in the thermostart housing when no coolant/water passing through it(Very easy to cook a motor). Will show a mid range temp reading even if no water in system. Do you have a low coolant switch in the tank.. How much water did you have to put back into it??

maybe heater taps got a crack? mine did.

Coolant is a slightly oily...have a look at your oil to see if it's milky. Same with the rest of the coolant.

correct me if im wrong...maybe the head or sumin? oil in the coolant... ?

Water under the car could be alot of things. Radiator cap, bottom hose, heater hose or tap or steel pipe, water pump, corroded welch plug, Thermostat housing or even a blown headgasket.

iv checked all around the motor when it was running and there was nothing to report anywere.
i changed the front and rear main seal about 3months ago and inspected the welsh plugs while i did that and they were all fine. the head is only 20,000km old so i would hope that there is nothing wrong with that. the oil seems fine in both the tranny and the motor but i dont have a oil leak anywere but the motor has used about 1/8th of the engine oil in 3000km since last service so that is a little worry. Ill get a new cap in the morning and see how it goes, if it still plays up i will get a new thermo and do a full flush and take it from there. I put about 1ltr of water in it to put it back to the MAX line on the resivour not sure if thats alot or not much. i cant find any leaks when its running it just boils over once you turn it off and then it starts pissin out of the overflow on the resivour |

You shouldn't fill it to the 'max' line when cold. Even with a new cap these engines will expel water out of the cap once they get to operating temp. The header tank should sit at 'min' when cold to allow for this expansion

The header tank should sit at 'min' when cold to allow for this expansion The "MAX" line on the header tank is for a cold refill, Ford would have marked it otherwise like the tranny dipstick or pwr str dipstick which have hot/cold levels.

i always just fill it to where the two halves join. never had a problem
