So my Ef fairmont has developed a problem on friday.

Now i'm normally pretty good wit mechanical stuff but some help on this i need.

Basically at light throttle at idle and acceleration lightly from a stop. My car stuttering badly. Seems to be fine if i really put the boot into it but thats not really a good way to drive. the revs drop up and down with stutter.

Now i've checked plugs and leads and air filter all of which are fairly new (5,000 klms) and seem to be in good condition.
I've checked for manifold leaks and vacuum but can't find anything.
I've also filled up with bp ultimate (had half a tank of 91) and added some injector cleaner haven't driven much but it seems to made no difference.

So one option is fuel filter i changed that when i bought about 18 months ago or 20,000k's so i dont think this could be an issue (though could be) i normally fill up once a week and usually when its the fuel lights on or below 1/4 of a tank.

So things i'm considering. Feel like a fuel problem so could be fuel pump (sounds good though) or a block filter.

Another thing i have considered is the TPS as its only with light load and seems fine at WOT.

If anyone has views or experience similar issue i'm interested in your opinions or solutions.

Disconnect your O2 sensor and go for a drive. My car stutters for about 2 minutes when I start it, but for some reason, with the O2 disconnected it does not. (the sensor is only 10k old)

edit: didn't see your last post

Check your coolant and manifold temp sensors.
If they check ok, read on.
Mine also comes good when o2 sensor is disconnected, just burns fuel like a jumbo jet.

I have the same problem. Have checked every sensor, ecu, voltages, vac leaks, fuel reg, ignition system, etc etc and everything is working fine. Picked up a new fuel filter today jic but not fitted yet.
Pump and filter are only 6 months old but its now looking like thats all it could be.
Glad to hear a fuel pump fixed yours. Hope this fixes mine cause if it doesn't I might be having a falcon big bonfire soon.
Started off as a slight surge at cruise speed but now getting worse, and developed dead spots when moderate throttle applied.
Strange that when more than half throttle is used it comes good. I thought it would get worse.

Actually after my original post and putting the on the coil packs it did get worse. So bad it stranded me on side of road when i took it for test drive.

I use to get that slight stutter or surge when cruising on highway months before it was always intermittant so could never trace it it exactly.

Just changed the fuel filter. Couldn't believe how much s**t was in it after only 6 months. Tipped a bit of fuel into it to see how much more would come out, just as dirty. Only ever run bp ultimate in it.
