H Guys ive just joined this forum hoping someone can help,
Car is EF 6 cylinder Wagon Auto. Problem is Just had head plained due to blown Gasket, the problem is ive just got it back together, and the Temp wont drop down, unless i squirt the radiator with a garden hose. Ok so the car had the water pump replaced about 8 months ago (genuine Ford), just replace the radiator yesterday, with a new one (SSS auto parts -cheap alloy) before the head was removed and plained it did have a couple of bottles of Goss chemi weld thru it. thats why i replaced the radiator.. Ayhow have tried with thermostat in and out , no difference. I get the engine up to temp by driving it in 2nd gear at 100 kmph on the freeway for about 7 klms, no matter if i drive it slow, or at freeway speed in drive not locked in second it still dosent cool down, not even when ideling.. Any suggestions or ideas, im stumped at the moment.. Thanks Top Profile Send PM |

Getting the engine to warm up by driving it in second sounds silly but anyway...
Are your thermo fans working ? Are you using the correct coolant ? Have you tried replacing the thermostat ?

So if it dosent get hot from normal driving it may be ok ??
Running the car in second is making the engine run and tranny run faster hence it will get hotter. How hot does it actually get ?

put a thermostat in it. the reason its there is to only let the water OUT of the engine once it it the correct temp, having no thermostat means the entire cooling system eventually becomes the same temp and the water cannot spend enough time the radiator to cool down.
Thermostats serve a very important purpose, put it back in or your gonna be pulling the head again.

I also checked the thermostat in boiling water worked ok, the reason i dont have coolant, the mechanic around the corner said dont run coolant for the first 1000 klm, didnt ask him why now that you mention it. |

Yes i understand that part but even when its idling it dosent cool down, the engine is only doing abot 800 rpm at idle, surly thats pleny to cool it down |
