Is there a downside to taking off the firewall padding?
mine is ripped and looks ugly and i wanna take it off but not sure if it will effect anything.. any advice would be great |

the downside would be engine heat possably heating the firewall making it hotter inside the car??
and you might hear more engine and road noise.. |

yeh, its there for some sound proofing and heat resistance. IIRC the lower models didn't have it?

il just spray some sound deadening stuff after i take off the padding
it wont look that bad.. |

GLi's missed out on it, everything else had it .. mostly road noise .. heat transfer is minimal!

My gli had it. Not sure if it was optional or not but its always had it. Mine was stuffed so i removed and replaced with the one out of the ef donor car. My car is now quiter and not as warm on the floor.
