Hi Darrell and welcome to fordmods
What part of the air conditioner are you trying to get to? This will help with how much of the dash you need to remove

First check that the drain is not blocked and filling up the airbox.

gas leak or water leak?
GAS: All o-rings and seals are accessible in the engine bay. Condenser/ Drier front bumper needs to come off (30min job) Evaporator leak, well entire dash out job. Water: 1: check the drain pipe, lets hope its blocked. 2: remove the fan resistor *behind glove-box and blow all the debris out etc* still there? Yes, dash out loose gas... its a pita. may not even be worth fixing, might be cheaper to replace it with another unit, However, I did one 3 months ago on a ute, ended up putting the whole thing in the sun(what little there was) to heat up and undo all the screws, replaced toe core and resealed it back up. sure, it was done. but was full on. Try silicone it externally if time & $ is an issue.

had same problem of water pissing out on our feet with anything more than a few minutes of Air Conditioning (AC) use. For us, the problem with the ef fairmont was the insulation/soundproofing material having slipped over the drain pipe.
found ( http://au.answers.yahoo.com/question/in ... 004AAZ3jR7 ) which told me where to search for the drain pipe, just on the firewall, about 15-20cm below the washer reservoir. the insulation had slipped down over time and had prevented leaf matter and stuff from draining out of the pipe, hence big blockage and wet feet. pushed the insulation sound proof stuff back up, stuck a screwdriver into the drain thing and water and debris p****d out all over the floor. |

When I read that it was a simple job I jacked the car up and supported the wheel and found the sound insulation was over the drain pipe.Pulled the insulation away and cleared the drain.Saved me money as I thought it was a major problem. Many thanks.
