Can anybody recommend somebody in the Sutherland NSW area that is good with diagnostics for my EF. The problem I am having is the engine misfires when travelling at highway speeds the engine starts to labour or right on a downshift the engine misfires like no fuel or spark, pushing the accelerator slightly usually fixes the problem however lately it is taking a bit more of a push on the accelerator to get it running right again. Car has 170,000 trouble free k's. Sometimes I think it connected to the gearbox downshift but then it will happen without impending downshift ie going up a small hill on the highway. Changed spark plugs and virtually no improvement. Any suggestions? Thank's

i had a similar problem on my ef i used to own. turned out to be crank angle sensor. i got myself a second hand one from a wrecker and fitted myself. could also be dodgy coil pack, cam angle sensor, ignition leads, etc.

an auto elec or ford dealer should be able to plug your car in and check fault codes. won't show up plugs or leads but will show up coil packs and all sensors.

When were HT leads last replaced? When was fuel filter last replaced? When was the coil pack last replaced? Only a couple of things to look at and easy enough to do.
