Hi all,
A little while back my EF "died" while driving it, replaced a faulty fuel pump and inline fuel filter. It ran well for around a month, the other day I was driving it and it died again. I can hear the electric fuel pump prime. A mate of mine suggested it could be the fuel pressure regulator.
When it happened the first time I put some fuel down the throat and it ran, albeit briefly, which help determine it was a fuel problem, how ever this time when I've done the same it doesn't run, it tries to but just doesn't make it. I figured, rightly or wrongly that if it was anywhere between the fuel train and tank, that doing this would at least get it running for a small amount of time, but to no avail, it turns over ok but doesn't fire. I have checked for spark, it isn't a crisp blues park but it has spark on all plugs. Going by my 1st experience I'm guessing it isn't a fuel problem per se, of course I realise this still may not be the case.
The only indication I had when it stopped was what sounded like a backfire just before it stopped running. Normally the car runs well but prior to both instances she was starting to idle a little rough at stops when in drive, the roughness lessened a little when placed in park. When I last had it serviced, I informed them of the rough idle, it seems they didn't do anything about it.
So any and all help with this would be greatly appreciated.
