What for? A certain type of accessory or for the whole serpentine??

You'll simply need the appropriate diameter/width pulleys to replace standard pulleys and the correct length of belt.

Interesting concept as the tensioner is a one-piece unit - you'd have to drill out the current bolt holding it on and fabricate a bolt to hold the replacement pulley on there. I know for a fact this is possible as Mr Landau offers replacement tensioners for the V8 engine with such a replacable system..

I'd be suprised if anyone made a kit to suit the ford 4.0L.

Lol, unfortunately the internal belt drive in the powerdyne is pretty quiet (good as far as law enforcement concerned tho...).

OK, the belts make a bit of noise (especially gilmer drive) but it's more the straight-cut gears used in some superchargers (particularly positive displacements) that make that sexy whining noise...

You'll get the same effect if you can find timing gears to replace your timing chain... or fit a gearbox with straight cuts...

Or drain the oil outta your gearbox or diff lol....

But seriously - if you wanna fit a gilmer drive for a little bit of noise... that's a damn expensive way to go about it.... seeing as you'll be pioneering the idea (as far as i know) and fabricating everything...

It would be interesting to see a serpentine gilmer drive set up!

The idea of replacing the 4L timing chain with timing gears isnt possible.. have you seen the length of the chain, Martin? :)

I had the same fun when I bought the V8.. quite a learning curve 'where the f**k is the cam?!'

The crank is about 20cm below the cam.. long chain! :)

V8 with straight cut timing gears.

a) nothing beats the sound of a V8!
b) timing gears will give you the sound u want
c) you will actually improve your performance.. not just 'sound cool'
--
d) rice is not OK!

All of the above...

4dzilr - looking at your mods, im guessing it already makes a bit of noise??

Maybe do a cam... that usually changes the noise profile of an engine... if you get something fairly radical then it'll idle rough as guts, might be the sound you're after - but the best part is, it'll go hard.

Either that or fit a vortech v1 supercharger or a turbo... i dont think you have many other options sorry...
