teveo...use the search function...and you shall find.

btw here is a doco on how to remove the rocker assembly...not too sure which part the tappet is :?. I'm not good with technical words as you will soon find if you read the doco in the link.

PS: get a Gregory's Manual...it will help in the long term.

ive had an intermittent ticking for about a month or so. Roll of the dice when you turn car on whether its going to tap or not.

Shop replaced all rockers but sound still persisted. They say ive got 20 pound of oil pressure running which is low and main probable cause of this is that my big end bearings (or something low end) has worn and gone and that means engine rebuild?

how true does this theory sound to you guys, another mechanic said noise definately no.2 lifter and it could just be faulty lifter that went in??

anyway, in my last service they threw additives in and changed to a pennzoil Thicker oil.. once again ive had mechanics say they shouldve gone a thinner oil?? uggh who is right

if the engine is making a ticking noise its probably your tappets i know this is probably not the case but if you barely service your car like alot of people i know do a oil change mite fix it

Yeah its intermident, seems to do it when the engine is hot, or ive given it a floggin, which would mean thicker oil, so its not so thin when its hot?
Im really not in the mood for big end etc... Ill put the new cam in and change the tappets, if it persist, it can go and get F*(&%$!!!!

my xf ute does the same thing, i took the rocker cover off and let it idle, seems that both lifters are worn, that causes a very bad ticking, my suggestion is to go to coventrys and buy yourself a lifter puller and a lifter kit, and replace all the lifters, should stop your problem, or if you wanna save money do a dodgey job and fill the bit the rocker bolts onto, until there is no clearance in between the rocker and push rod, dont file it to much, you may bend a push rod if you do.

You had the rocker off and let it idle?... did it spray oil everywhere?
