Hello
I've just bought new lifters for my EF fairmont, and upon removal of the old ones, noticed that the new ones dont have o-rings like the old ones did, although the old orings had fallen apart and gone brittle anyway..

Is this normal not to run o-rings?? Should i be concerned??

Cheers
David

You dont need the black retaining rings, most people leave them out when fitting an after market cam so they can take up a little bit extra slack if needed. I think they are mainly used during manufacture to stop the HLA/lifter falling out of the rocker when fitting the rocker gear to the head.
