have ef motor going into my ea can start on it in 2more weeks just want to make parts list with u alls
ea is cfi ef motor have loom and ecu have fuel pump smart lock bypass acellerater cable mpfi dizzy motors missing every thing on front but every thing else there will my ea fanbelt setup work fine? radiater hoses will be diferent but no drama dash must connect into ecu how will that work or not work for that matter am I missing any thing? Have money coming in to buy parts needed want to buy parts in one go might get better deal. Getting excited any tricks or things to watch out for would be much appreciated cheers MIKE :

your dizzy won't work with that EF ECU you have,
you have a few options easiest would be to drop the EF motor in and use the original CPI setup or get an EL ECU and Dizzy to replace the cam angle sensor or if you want to keep your EF ECU get a coil pack set up and install as per EF

you will need a diff pwr steer pump as well...as pulley's diff.....unless you already got that with motor(u didnt say if it had accessories).
I got a few if you want one...lol

ok cheers for replys have coil pack on motor but read somewhere to change to dizzy
could of had something to do with ignition setup on ea not able to work on coil pack correct me if im wrong. motor hasnt got acessories ie :power steer alternater have water pump question is will my power steer fit plus alternater just trying to save couple bucks. hopeing to be ableto use whle fanbelt set up off ea put staight onto ef is there anyone with photo of ef motor out of car whole front view?want to get head around all work involved before i start dont want to get caught halfway and have to explain to wife its going to cost an extra $$$$$$$ cheers all

The ef motors don't run a clutch fan setup. They have the elec thermo fans. I really dont think you can put your crank pulley on the EF motor, but if you could, personally, I wouldnt!
The steering pump will bolt on, but as I said previously, the pulleys are diff. EA has the A section belt, where as EF onwards use a multigroove(not sure on exact term). I would be getting the alt (can get), pwr steer pump (have), aircon comp (have) and the thermos(can get) and running a complete EF setup.

i did this coversion on my ea. i kept my cfi setup. i also kept the ea accessories. i made up a pointer for the balancer, and cut the old pointer off. i had to drill a hole in the bottom of the a/c belt tensioner. the newer motor doesn't have the provision for the countersunk screw that holds the bottom on. i drilled a hole, and used a spacer and a longer timing case bolt. everything else was pretty much a direct fit.

reuse all your EA accessories and CPI manifold,
or: Reuse your accessories, and switch to an EA MPFI setup, youd need: Airbox and pipes manifold+tbody+injectors+fuel rail acc cable engine loom dizzy ECU

ok theres to many options
I want to put ef motor in complete with bbm manifold as its only done 120.000 ks compared to eas 320.000 has nothing to do with extra power NOT!!! sounds like ill just source ef accessories will my ea ignition start coil pack?when I have smart lock bypass in. allso does dash wires connect into ecu? will I need to join ea's wireing into ef loom? I think thats all I need to know cheers all mike

Let me know if you want full reco pwr steer pump and air con comp(or just 2nd hand). Not sure how the aus dollar workin, might work out worth your while, or not.

I always thought that the key is just like a switch, so it would depend on what coil you have. Thats the way I see it, but I could be wrong.
As for the Dash I wouldnt have the slightest sorry, one of the other guys would be able to help.

ok the EF uses a serpintine belt setup. this requires the EF timing chain cover so if you go back to EA assesories then you will have to swap back the timing case.
the EF loom is completely different to the EA-ED lom so the instrument cluster (speedo ect) wont work unless you tapp in ALL the wires. which is a HUGE job. my opinion is use an EA-ED MPFI loom, and just change the TPS wires/plug over. and use the EA MPI computer or an EL computer and run the extra wire for the BBM switch. check out my thread as mine was origionally CPI aswell. im currently still using the CPI loom which was modified for the MPFI install. and now BBM. ill be using a RPM switch so switch the BBM. |
