Just after some advice before i go spending money on things that dont need spending on.

Ever since doing the H/gasket and timing chain on my EF 6 months ago (stock cam in it) the power delivery isnt smoth like it used to be. If i plant my foot in 2nd gear starting at 1500RPM for example i get a jump in power at ~2400 as the cam comes on, but then at ~4000 i get another jump in power as if a switch has been flicked and more power arrives. and im sure that never used to be there.

The BBM opperates as it should when i rev the car and watch it open at 3800. New fuel filter too.

I had a few theories, the ECU is screwing up, i replaced my old one which didnt run the ISC or the no 6 injector. with this one that doesnt run the ISC either.
the cam timing is off or the aux shaft (cam angle sensor) isnt lined up properly,
or the fuel pressure reg is screwing up.

Also dunno if its relevent but it pings at part throttle when warm and on 98 octane. but that's (may be) another issue. maybe the power gain is actually a loss beforehand due to retaring ignition from the ping...

Anway

The ECU and the fuel pressure reg i dunno how to check myself so im after some thoughts on whats likely to be wrong before i spend money.

Thanks!
