hey ive got an ef with a fresh rebuilt 6, its got a bit of head work, mild cam and full exhaust. but im having trouble with it missing. its got irridium platinum plugs, 10mm race leads and new coil packs. the injectors are about 9 months old and hav only had premium thru them, and the fuel filters been replaced 2 weeks ago. also sumtimes when i first start it, it runs really rough. im sort of thinking the fuel regulator or the pump. any ideas????

I've got a similar problem. She misses / runs rough on me sometimes. I've just done new plugs but havent tried anything else just yet. Gonna go leads next then maybe get the coil pack looked at...

yeah im thinkin along the lines of the pump or regulator, it seems like a fuel problem. cos wen i cold start it, all u can smell is fuel and it choofs a bit of durry. and everytime ive replaced something on the ignition side of things it goes good for a few days and starts missing again. im gonna put it on the scan tool 2moro and check for any faults, see how it goes anyway.

ive changed my injectors over with an old set i had laying around and its only surging slightly between 1 and 2. so im guessing it was leaking injectors, still doesnt explain y it was missing tho. ill put it on the scan tool at work 2moro c wat comes up

freshly rebuilt motors dont run right for a bit - ECU has to relearn stuff and heck its definately not used to the extra amount of cleanliness.

replace the o2 sensor - did it to mine and it runs a treat and i was told it was the regulator and pump (650 - 700$ fitted from ford !!!)

o2 sensor is 90$.
wont show up on diag either haha.
hope some of this helps

thanks ill hav a look at it. the motors about 2 months old now, but yeah it didnt run too well for a few days, then i reset base idle and relearnt it. i checked the o2 sensor wen i put the motor in and it looked fine, but whose to say it isnt now lol. ur gettin ripped for that price for a regulator. give me 92 bucks and 20 mins and i'll fit it myself lol. u can also check the sensors on the fords, u gotta check the resistance. and i dunno at wat temp to check the o2 or the temp sender.

ill second the cam angle sensor. i had exactly the same problems. got a mechanic to check it all and run the codes came back with a completly dead cam angle sensor. it will cause it run a little rough now and again and will cause idle problems.

i had pretty much the same problem with my car.
instead of replacing things til it fixed itself i got told that the
PCV valves like to s**t themselfs causing wat your talking about
i would replace that first. for a good brand one your looking at
about $15 from bursons
